Foursquare is a relatively new phenomenon, but those who are using it say it's addictive.

The key difference between Foursquare and other social networking is that it exists in physical space as well as online.

Sign-up is usually on a computer, but your account is linked to your smart 'phone, so that you can tell the community where in the world you are - and not just for travelling, but for buying milk, queueing at the cinema and meeting a friend at Costa.

Geo-location tagging could be the future of all social networks, but for now Foursquare is leading the field.
