Rural Life Museum

When the South West's Rural Life Museum commissioned four films for its refurbished rural crafts gallery, we were given the opportunity to work with rare archive material mixing it with newly shot footage.

We have selected perhaps one of the most interesting of the four agricultural industries covered by the museum's brief.

Mud Horse fishing is peculiar to Somerset but it is dying out. For centuries it has provided coastal villages with income, but today one lone fisherman still continues the tradition.

The film is designed for the space in which it works to tell the story of how agricuture has changed; its soundscape, astons and length have all been carefully conceived in close partnership with the heritage service.
