I’m delighted to see that a major political party has finally launched an app for the iPhone.
The comprehensive new iPhone app, simply called ‘Conservative’ once downloaded, features major policies, latest news and an interactive swing-o-meter, which once you get used to it, is actually quite good fun.
One of the key issues facing all major political parties (i.e. those with more than one thing to say) is how to communicate with younger voters – particularly on what you stand for. It’s nice that politicians are finally getting better known to the public for the job they do (rather than only when there’s a scandal, as has been the case in the past), but it’s also important to make policies well known.
I was expecting a ‘Find your local MP/candidate’ function which is of course available on the web, but on reflection, missing that out could be to the benefit of a party that is in need of effectively communicating its plans to drag the country out of recession.
