Facebook is unveiling a series of changes to the product that will make it quicker, more accessible and easier to use.
Uppermost amongst the changes is the ability for the newsfeed to update in real-time. It will also be easier to filter content by specific friends and pages.
Here’s what the changes to the ‘Home’ page will look like…
Also in the latest tranche of updates, Pages will start to look a lot more like profiles. Updates will be the realm of the page owner, with better control on who can post what on the wall.
Until now, the use of Pages vs. Groups has been somewhat confused, but the aim of Pages is now clear – they are for people, bands and organisations with more than 5,000 followers.
As with profiles, users will be able to Comment and Like posts, which makes it much more about sharing and polling opinion that checking occasionally to see what friends are up to. And that means we’re all more likely to stay logged in all day.
The changes will take place next week.
