Mendip Media has started filming this year’s Royal Bath & West Show, which begins tomorrow.

The 4-day event is one of the biggest agricultural shows in the UK combining farming displays with entertainment and the promotion of British food and artisan crafts.

Mendip Media will be filming food innovation at tthis year, as the Royal Bath and West Society, which hosts the Show and many other agricultural events, is returning to its founding mission for ‘the improvement and encouragement of agriculture, manufacture, commerce and the arts’.

Announcing a half-a-million pound project to create a cutting edge agri-tech and food innovation centre, the Royal Bath & West Society is riding the crest of a national wave to challenge, explore and promote agriculture, land-based skills and micro food and drink companies.

It’s an exciting prospect.

Somerset will see the creation of a food innovation and training centre near Shepton Mallet, which will include a conference and seminar area and a commercial test kitchen for young food businesses to explore scaling up their enterprise.

This kind of support for start-ups and specialist food producers will be invaluable, centred as it is in an agricultural hot-spot and bringing together experts in the latest farming techniques, food production innovations, sales and retailing know-how.

Meanwhile the Show must go on.

Opening tomorrow, the Royal Bath & West Show promises to be a belter!

The event will be captured by Mendip Media’s roving camera crew and appear as daily videocast with a promotional video to follow to demonstrate the value of filming food innovation at an event that is precisely in tune with a new found confidence in British food production, manufacture and retail.
