Tools of the trade are kind of important when you’re trying to teach students the ABC of broadcast media. Having decent equipment like a camera with XLR inputs enables enthusiastic youngsters to get out and about to make their first videos.
I went to see a group of second year Strode College students yesterday to donate a video camera to help them with their course.
Mendip Media’s involvement with Strode, an FE college that caters for over a thousand students of all ages, goes back a long way. I first started pro-bono work there about six years ago and have been going back ever since.
It’s really important for those of us who are in creative commercial media to connect with the talent of the future; to show them that that hard work and commitment can lead to a good job.
We need trained young people coming through to help us build our businesses.
With any luck, the Mendip Media camera will help give the next generation the chance to learn for real how to make video.
