Close to my heart is the departure of respected colleagues.
You never think when you manage a small business that someone you’ve taken on, invested in, laughed with and valued, will move on.
And when I say move on, I don’t mean disappear from the scene entirely because they’re often in on a freelancer basis. But they have withdrawn from the esprit de team!
In the small scheme of things, when someone is part of a team and they decide to pack it in, then a little bit of the culture within a business is corroded and change is inevitable.
So, if you really want to keep a group together, then invest well in their well-being, and, above all, keep the spirit and vision of the company burning bright!
