For video producers and marketers who thought Instagram was a faddy platform think again.
Sure it’s a place where a lot people are sharing and having fun, but it’s fast becoming important for brands as a touch point in the marketing journey.
And, as the consumer world goes mad for mobile friendly content like video, so businesses need the tools to evaluate the success of video marketing.
You Tube has had a view counter since its inception.
Views are a quick and easy way to see how many have clicked on a video.
You Tube claims that it counts as a ‘video view’ any video a viewer has been watching for longer than 30 seconds; a good thing given that pre-roll eats into the seconds.
A couple of weeks ago Instagram announced it’ll replace the ‘like’ function on its videos with a view counter based on click plus 3 second views.
This is great news for marketers who now have good reason for creating videos as well as photographs for their Instagram channels.
