It is a truth universally acknowledged that every person in possession of a plate of food must be in want of a camera to post a picture of it on Facebook.
I kid you not, I checked my own Facebook page just a second ago and there were a total of six separate photos of plates of food posted by my friends in the past 24 hours.
I’m fairly confident that this is not something that is confined simply to my own circle of friends but another example of the bizarre happenings that infest the corridors of the internet.
Is it an attempt to make others jealous, the ‘look at my beautiful food, don’t you wish you had it’ approach? Perhaps it is a status thing, more of a ‘look at how cultured I am with my sushi and hummus’?
I read the other day on the Guardian site that Facebook has lost around 2 million monthly users in the last six months alone.
If pictures of plates of food was the sum total of what it had to offer then I can see why.
