Location-based social network fourquare now has more than a-million users, and is currently in the sights of Yahoo!
Combined with complimentary iPhone, Android and Blackberry apps, foursquare allows its users to pinpoint their geographical location by checking-in at various hotspots – which might be coffee shops, bookshops, businesses or even user-added points like libraries and supermarkets.
Checking-in earns users points, which can be redeemed for discounts or even products. Regular users call it addictive, but some otherwise early adopters won’t touch it on privacy grounds.
