New Skype 5 for Mac – catching up with iChat

Viewed 8 times

Skype has more than 660m users and has relaunched with a new interface and new features. Skype 5 for Mac is a considerable step forward, although critics say the new interface is too big (and it cannot be shrunk).

The most important new feature is group video calling, which iChat has offered for years.

Other additions to the new interface include:

– A new, mini call control bar (so you can mute and hang up without having to find Skype under all your windows)

– A clearer window with recent call log

– An iTunes-esque contact scroll

– They’re also pushing out calls and texts to landlines and mobiles, although Skype still cannot be used to dial 999.
