YouTube has been rolling out its new Flash video player over the last few days. It has a number of small but key improvements, including:
– A new progress/seek bar, which allows you to view where in the video you’ve got to, as well as to skip to a certain part. This now sits under the video itself rather than in the toolbar and minimises when not in use.
– A lateral volume control inside the toolbar, which also minimises when not in use. This replaces the old version, which opened over the video itself.
– A ‘Show video info’ option when you right-click on the video.
The changes aren’t universal yet – they haven’t appeared on videos with ads, nor has the new player rolled out to embedded videos, as you’ll see if you scroll down this blog to some earlier posts.
